3 Fun Fiats that offer value for money
Founded in July 1899, Fiat is Italy’s greatest automaker and has produced some of the most impressive motor vehicles. This famous brand has excelled in the racing industry as well as in producing tiny little speed monsters that have endeared the brand to a loyal following. Here are our top 3 favorite Fiats.
Fiat 500 Abarth
If indeed big things come in small packages then the Fiat 500 Abarth is a testament. This hot Italian hatchback hit the market back in 2008 with a bang attracting praise from press and fans alike. Powered with a 1.4 turbo engine that produced 158bhp combined with an impressive hot hatch chassis, the Fiat 500 Abarth is still a hotcake today. Available in both the cabriolet (500C) and the coupe (500), the Abarth comes paired with a standard five-speed manual transmission and an optional six-speed automatic transmission. The 2017 Fiat 500 Abarth features the recently upgraded UConnect infotainment as well as a handful of contrasting color combinations (red, black, white or gray) for the exterior. Love it or despise it, the 500 Abarth still has enough swag to compete with e Mini Cooper S and the Ford Fiesta ST.
The Fiat Fiorino was first launched in 1977 and is the smallest van built by Fiat. The first generation of the Fiorino was a boxy combination of the panel van and pickup based on derivative models like the Fiat 127 and Fiat Uno. It was not until 2008 that the third redesigned Fiorino came into the market, spotting a new look borrowed from the architecture and body work of the Peugeot Bipper and Citroen Nemo. The passenger vehicle version of the Fiorino is availed under the nameplate Fiat Qubo.
Fiat upgraded the Fiorino in 2016 by introducing a facelifted model featuring a new front bumper and a chrome strip as well as alloy wheels and plastic cover. The interior of this new Fiorano was not left untouched either as it received the new infotainment system that was developed by Magneti Marelli featuring an integrated 5-inch touchscreen that allows drivers to access sat nav, car radio, USB, bluetooth and AUX. With a foldable two-row seating and its fuel efficient 1.4L petrol or 1.3L diesel engines, the Fiat Fiorino remains a practical ride for the economic driver.
One of the recent creations of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the Fiat 500X was debuted during the 2014 Paris Motor Show. This 5-door front-engined hatchback crossover SUV is the second hatchback from Fiat and is modelled after the GM Fiat Small platform that was also used in the other Fiat hatch, the 500L as well as the Fiat Grande Punto. Besides the 500L, the Fiat 500X bears close semblance to the Jeep Renegade, Jeep Compass and the Fiat Toro. This SUV is one of the safest and most reliable cars and is powered by a 1.4L turbocharged four cylinder engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission or the normally aspirated 2.4L four cylinder engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The former engine comes with a front wheel drive option only while the latter has an optional all-wheel drive in addition to the standard front-wheel.
