Though many know it by its popular initials, BMW, very few people understand what it has taken to build a brand as strong as the Bayerische Motoren Werke or Bavarian Motor Works in English. Formed in 1916, it took a decade before BMW was able to produce its first company. BMW has since survived wars and bad partnerships to establish its position as a trendsetter in the automotive industry. This auto giant has a massive following because of its success both as a car manufacturer and a racetrack champion. BMW has produced many a great car and we look at some of the most powerful of these that are popular in the UAE.

BMW 7 Series

This full-size luxury saloon car has been in production since 1977 when it replaced the BMW E3 ‘New Six” sedan. Now in its sixth generation of production, the automaker has retained the four door sedan body style for the BMW 7 series coupled with limousines and long wheel-base versions. Changes in engines is one of the main modifications that BMW has made on the 7 Series. While the first generation in this line had a straight-6 petrol engine, subsequent models have had inline-4, V8 and V12 engines featuring turbocharge and natural aspiration. 3-Series

If ever there was a sporty sedan that won the hearts of many a driver and had a reign of the sports sedans’ segment for a long time, then it is the multi-award winning, best-selling BMW 3-Series. The 3 Series first came into the picture in 1975 when it succeeded the BMW 02 Series. Even though the initial production was a two-door sedan, BMW expanded the 3 Series range to include a two-door coupe, two-door convertible, three-door hatchback, four-door sedan, five-door station wagon and five-door hatchbacks. BMW has since scrapped the production of 3 Series coupes and convertible models as these are manufactured under the 4 Series banner. The seventh generation, BMW G20 was unveiled in 2018. The BMW 3 Series has enjoyed its fair share of attention, garnering love and recognition from both the public and industry critics. The current 3-series comes with five different powertrain options and boasts great looks from the 2016 facelift as well as a spacious interior equipped with great automotive technology. The M3 version of the BMW 3 Series is the most powerful of the entire range, thanks to its engine and aerodynamics, making it a smooth operator on all roads.

BMW X5

The BMW X5 is famous for many reasons, one of which is it being the first SUV launched by BMW as the X5 had to bring its game to an already competitive market. . The X5 is categorised as a  Sports Activity Vehicle by BMW and is powered by a 3.0L inline 6-cylinder engine featuring the BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and produces 300hp. The three  rows of seating, coupled with 650 litre boot capacity make this car extremely spacious, while the upscale materials and details incorporated in its interior take comfort and luxury to the next level. The infotainment features has been upgraded to BMW’s iDrive 6.0. BMW 4-Series

The BMW 4 series made its debut at the North American International Auto Show in 2013 and was based on the coupe and convertible models of the BMW 3-series. The base model of the 2019 BMW 430i is powered by a turbocharged four cylinder engine delivering 248hp. However, BMW created 440i for those who might need a sportier option.This model comes with a 320 hp turbocharged six cylinder engine and can allegedly move from 0 to 60mph in a mere 4.7seconds. Even though both the 430i and 440i are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, there is a six-speed manual transmission option in coupes. Besides the powerful engines, with excellent handling, the 4-Series has an amazing interior and updated infotainment feature with just enough room for a small luxury car.

BMW 6-Series

The BMW 6 Series is the biggest of all the BMW Series cars. For a convertible, the BMW 6 Series is masculine and further accentuated with a  powerful engine that can almost fly on any road. The 640i is powered by the 3.0L inline-six engine, which  delivers 315hp while the 650i comes with the more powerful 4.4L V8 engine, producing 445hp. Both of these engines are coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 6-Series is also known for its stylish interior but BMW goes an extra mile with the recently unveiled M Sport package, which is part of the 6-Series.
