The Suzuki Jimny was first launched in 1970 and is one of the first productions of the Japanese automaker. It was modelled after the LJ50 but received an upgraded 800cc four-stroke in-line four-cylinder engine. Other trim levels included the Jimny 1000/SJ410 and Jimny 1300/SJ413 which was later rebadged into the Samurai. In 1972, Suzuki added cooling system to the Jimny LJ20 .
