4 POPULAR LAMBORGHINIS IN DUBAI

Founded by Feruccio Lamborghini in 1963, Lamborghini is a famous Italian automaker based in Sant’Agata Bolognese and is reputed for luxury sports cars and SUVs. Its first claim to worldwide fame was the flagship of the Miura sports coupe which pioneered and set a trend for the rear mid engine, rear wheel drive performance cars. Despite its reputation for luxurious supercars, Lamborghini has had its fair share of financial woes and changed management several times. The company came under the ownership of Volkswagen in 1998 and was placed under the group’s Audi division. Nonetheless, Lamborghini continues to stop crowds with its designs and speeds and we look at four of the best Lambos that are popular in Dubai.

LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR

The Lamborghini Aventador is a mid-size engine sports car that was designed by Filippo Perini and launched during the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Named after a fighting bull, the Aventador replaced the Murcielago with initial plans limiting production to 4,000 vehicles. The 2011 Aventador heavily borrowed from the Lamborghini Estoque concept and resembled the Lamborghini Reventon. The 2011 Aventador was all-wheel drive and available as a coupe and a roadster. It was powered by a 6.5L V12 engine with an output of 730hp and paired with a seven-speed automated manual transmission. This brutally powerful supercar could hit 60 mph in 2.7 seconds. Having sold 5000 cars, Lamborghini replaced the Aventador with the remodelled Aventador S in 2016.

LAMBORGHINI HURACAN

Just like a real life hurricane, it is hard to miss the Lamborghini Huracan even in a crowd. This supercar combines looks and extreme power to rouse a storm. The sharp dramatic angles of its exterior are paired with bold colors to create a showstopper. It is powered by the exitic 5.2L V10 engine paired with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. On rear-drive, the Huracan delivers 572 hp while on track-ready mode it outputs an insane 631 hp. To top it up, the Huracan family of supercars are renowned for their luxurious interiors.

LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO

Named after a famous breed of fighting bulls, the Lamborghini Gallardo was first launched in 2003. Its 5.0L 90 degree V10 engine generated 493 hp and was a major hit amongst petrolheads. This was paired with two choices of transmissions, the traditional six-speed manual transmission and the advanced six-speed electro-hydraulically controlled manual transmission. Although the Gallardo was officially replaced by the Lamborghini Huracan in 2014, it is still revered in the supercar circles as it marked the beginning of affordable super sports cars. To date the Lamborghini Gallardo is the automaker’s bestselling supercar with more than 14,000 productions during its era.

LAMBORGHINI MURCIELAGO

Launched in 2001, the Lamborghini Murcielago was the first sports car produced by Lamborghini under the management of Audi. It succeeded the Diablo and was totally revamped by the Belgian designer, Luc Donckerwolke into a stunning headturner. The first Murcielago was a 2-door coupe, the LP640 but a limited edition roadster, the LP650 was later introduced in 2004. Initially, this supercar was powered by a 6.2L V12 engine that produced 580bhp which was later replaced in 2006 by the more powerful 6.5 L producing 631bhp. The LP 670-4 SuperVeloce was the final Murcielago variation and it was powered by the original V12 engine from Lamborghini. After 4,099 cars, the curtains finally closed on Murcielago in November 2010, ushering the Aventador in 2011.
