TOP 10 FERRARIS OF ALL TIME

It is highly unlikely that Enzo Ferrari envisioned the success that Ferrari enjoys today when he first ventured into the automotive industry in 1939 following the collapse of his father’s carpentry business. Yet decades later, Ferrari is a global brand associated with speed, style, performance and opulence. Ferrari has been one of the best performers on the track, winning several championships in Formula One. It is indeed the epitome of luxury in the auto industry. Listing the top 10 Ferraris ever made is not an easy task but let’s give it a shot.

The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO

Only 39 of the 250 GTO were made, making it one of the rarest Ferraris to find in this era. It was designed by Ferrari’s famous engineer, Scaglietti and produced between 1962 and 1964. Besides its beautiful looks, this Ferrari is renowned for winning 3 FIFA World Championships in a row and this is mainly attributed to its great performance. A rare and powerful gem, the 250 GTO is currently estimated to sell for $30 million and above.

The 330 P4 Berlinetta

The 330 P4 is one of the most iconic race cars ever built and many Ferrari enthusiasts believe that it was specifically designed to beat the GT40 by Ford during the Le Mans race. It did serve its purpose during the 1967 Le Mans where it had a sensational win and beat the GT40.

The 275 GTB

The 275 GTB was designed by Pininfarina and handcrafted by Scaglietti with the aim of upgrading the Berlinetta series of Ferrari GT range. With its gorgeous looks and excellent performance, the 275 GTB set a trend amongst the supercars, with subsequent Berlinetta productions following in its footsteps.

The 2013 Berlinetta

This recent Ferrari creation is a replacement of the 599 GTB and borrows its stylish looks from the 250 GT and 275 models. It features excellent aerodynamic proportions and when it comes to speed, it is only second to the 599 GTO. Beyond its looks, the 2013 Berlinetta definitely has a lot to offer.

The 1957 Ferrari 250 GT California

The 1957 250 GT California was quite the looker and thus gained notorious popularity amongst the wealthy elite. Powered by a V12 engine that delivered 280hp, this Ferrari performs really well on the road and still commands a lot of respect in social circles. It is regarded as one of the most attractive supercars and is thus highly sought after amongst classic car collectors.

The 288 GTO

The 288 GTO was produced in 1984 and was the first GTO model released in 2 decades. Ferrari chose composite materials to design this particular GTO and this resulted in a light yet stronger chassis. As a result the 288 GTO performed extremely well on the road, leading to its great popularity during the ‘80s.

The 250 Testa Rossa

Testa Rossa is Italian for Red Head and the 250 TR was part of the Ferrari 250 line built by Scaglietti in 1957. Based on the Formula One looks, the 250 TR was both popular on the racetrack and the road, winning several of the Le Mans races. Its gorgeous looks and speed are part of the reason why it has remained in Ferrari’s most desired cars for all these decades. A 250 Testa Rossa fetched $16.4 million during a 2011 auction.

The Ferrari 458 Italia

The Ferrari 458 Italia is the mid-engined sports car that replaced the Ferrari 430 in 2009. This model was designed differently from its predecessor and incorporated lots of technologies from the Formula 1 cars that Ferrari had created. With a top speed of 210mph, this sports car is powered by a 4.5L, 274.4cu.in. direct fuel injection engine from the “Ferrari/ Maserati” F136 V8 engine range and only possesses the dual-clutch 7-speed Getrag gearbox. For better acceleration, Ferrari included the E-Diff and F1-Trac traction control systems in the 458 model as well as a suspension that features double wishbones at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear. In 2015, the Ferrari 458 Italia was replaced by the Ferrari 488 which was officially launched during the Geneva Motor Show.
