The UAE government has always been at the forefront of using technology for the betterment of its citizens and to provide them with the utmost convenience in using government and private sector services.

Therefore, we have seen a slew of ambitious projects launched in the past few years. In 2013, the smart government initiative was launched to deliver government services most efficiently.

We also saw Dubai launching Smart City Project and the world’s most ambitious data initiative. Ever since then, the government has been on the fast track to using technology to provide seamless services to its citizens.

In continuation of all this, recently, the government facilitated its citizens by allowing them to renew their vehicle registration completely online.

This offer commences from the month of May 2020 and is valid for three months. We will be discussing specifics of this later in the article.

The offer is part of the many initiatives taken by the government to ensure that the public remains fit and healthy.

Online Vehicle Renewal Process- All you Need to Know

Earlier this month all inspection centers were closed. Some of them have now reopened but the government recommends the public to use online means for registration due to the current situation.

To make things easier and encourage online registration, motorists are exempted from vehicle inspection and paying fines before registration.

The exemption of vehicle inspection is only for those cars whose registration expired less than six months ago. Also, please note that the fines will still be payable by the motorist. The exemption is until things settle down.

To carry out the online registration, you need to login to the website or police app of your respective emirates.  For example, in Dubai, you can use the user-friendly website or app of RTA to provide all information related to your vehicle and carry out the renewal.

In Abu Dhabi, you can conveniently visit the police website to carry out the formalities. Alternatively, you may visit the Ministry of Interior website for renewing your vehicle registration.

All these platforms have easy to follow instructions on how to renew your registration. Therefore, you won’t face any issues in navigating through these platforms.

One important thing to keep in mind is that the law of 13 months of valid insurance is still applicable. There is no exemption in this case. Therefore, make sure to renew your insurance in case it does not have the validity of 13 months.

However, worry not as most insurances can be renewed online or over the phone call. It won’t be much of a hassle.

And when we talk about being hassle free, wecashanycar leaves no stone unturned. As we mentioned earlier, we allow you to sell your car in UAE from the comfort of your home.

Costs Associated with the Renewal Process

Once the registration process is completed, you can select how to receive the card as well as the number plate. You will have to pay the courier cost, which varies from emirate to emirate.

All fees associated with the renewal processes can be conveniently paid online.

Documents Required for Car Registration

It is important that you have all the documents with you before you begin the registration process so that everything goes smoothly.

Below is the list of all the documents you will need

  1. Emirates ID card
  2. Driving license
  3. Car test certificate that proves your vehicle has passed fitness from RTA approved test center
  4. Previous registration card
  5. Vehicle insurance card

Importance of renewing vehicle on time

The laws in UAE are very stringent, and you may incur a hefty fine for not renewing your registration on time. Other than that, registration fetches you a good value when you plan to sell your car.

At wecashanycar, we assist you in vehicle registration, RTA clearance, and for carrying out other necessary documentation.
